Last year at this time, I was depressed and very upset with myself. Back in 2009, I lost 75 pounds and felt great despite many changes going on in my life.
When Dan (my husband now) and I started our relationship a couple of years later, I SLOWLY began to put on the weight again. Many reasons surrounded this: 1. I love food. 2. Dan loves food. 3. When you put two people who love food together…the weight is sure to follow.
But that wasn’t all that was fueling my weight gain. I discovered through a wonderful Bible Study called Hope Ahead by Cris Paulson & Barb Mulvey that I was using weight gain as a protection device to ward off unwanted attention. I was happily in a wonderful relationship with a wonderful and godly man and I didn’t want to hurt that relationship. So I was using weight gain to protect myself. When this finally dawned on me, it was then that I was able to lose the 35 pound I had put on since being married to Dan.
Now, I have been asked by several ladies in my life to walk with them in their journey to get healthy. I created a new Facebook page called Cleaning Out the Temple where we will help each other to move forward in our journeys of getting healthy and staying healthy. If you would like to join us…let me know.
As I post there and share here I pray this will be an encouragement to anyone out there struggling with weight and anything else that may be keeping you from knowing who you are in Christ.
1 Corinthians 6:19, ” Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.”
